The first edition of this blog recommended that when creating content for your company’s online presence, you should be personable, concise, mindful, selfless and passionate.

Here at Grow Socially, we never stop thinking of ways to help out your brand. Which is why five guiding principles simply wasn’t enough. So we went back to the drawing board and devised five more buzz words that should act as a compass when you are sitting down to create your online content.

Here are five more helpful thoughts to guide your content creation strategy.

1. Be Grateful

Online marketing is very much characterized by the type of dialogue that had with your audience. When you hear from one of your valued clients, let them know you appreciate it. The content you create, whether it be a blog post or social media entry, should always have that supportive audience in mind. Don’t be bashful when heaping on praise for your audience. They are taking the time to support your brand. You can take the time to let them know you appreciate it.

2. Be Classy

There is just never a wrong time for a Ron Burgundy plug. Be wary when posting potentially offensive or unprofessional things. You are a company with an image and and brand value that you should take great care never to tarnish. Basically, don’t go spouting off a profanity-laced rant about politics during election season or the frivolity of charity. Your audience will probably not respond well to that.

3. Be Relevant

The content you create is a product of the content you consume. Keep up-to-date on all of the latest trends in your industry and then engage in conversations about them. Offer your opinions and expertise on those subjects. Your audiences should be looking to your for industry advice. You should be positioning yourself as the expert on all things pertaining to your vertical.

4. Be Tireless

The key to all online posting is consistency. Your chief blogger or social media poster may come up with a brilliant idea on Monday and get great results. However, that doesn’t mean the rest of the week can fall by the wayside. Your posting should be relentless, or else you are doing a disservice to your material and your SEO efforts. Spread the wealth in the office and don’t put all the onus on one person to keep generating content daily. The brand is a symbol of perseverance – it cannot afford to be tired.

5. Be Inspiring

Fire up your readers. Appeal to their senses and emotions every now and then. You should certainly be offering as much good information as you can muster on a regular basis. But every now and then, humanize your brand with a heartfelt, motivational or thought-provoking piece of content. It is a needed change-up from your normal material – cleansing the reader’s palate, if you will. You love reading something that challenges and inspires you on other sites. Find a way to incorporate into yours as well.
