In the latest installment of Meet the Team Friday, we will be getting to know Tom Barry, a sales executive here at interlinkONE and Grow Socially.
A bright, cheery smile accompanied with a booming salutation are normally what Tom Barry brings into a room.
It’s reserved for anyone who may cross his path – a limitless supply of pep and perk ready to be dispensed at random.
Tom’s never been one to shy away from conversation or meeting new people. Growing up five minutes from the interlinkONE and Grow Socially offices, Tom is no stranger to Wilmington. It’s a town that he attributes so much to.
“Wilmington is a good town,” he said with profound sincerity. “I learned a lot from the character of the people in this town, I realized it was a great place to grow up. It’s a close community with people that actually care.”
Tom certainly does his share to give back to the town. A member of the Wilmington Rotary Club, Wilmington High School Athletic Alumni Association, a part-time coach of current high-school athletes, and a laundry list of other activities keeps him busy.
Currently, Tom sells iFlyMobi services to the growing mobile marketing community. But it’s not where he started. Tom was the programming and staffing coordinator at Camp 40 Acres, a local summer camp in 2009. While looking for marketing help, Tom sat down in the office of none other than John Foley for some advice. After seeing his body of work and commitment to his craft, John brought Tom on as an intern, which has evolved into Tom’s full-time position.
A recent graduate of UMass-Dartmouth with a degree in Marketing, Tom has a range of interests as wide as his volunteer experiences. “I like doing projects, big and small around the house to help out family,” said Tom, the proud owner of a chocolate lab puppy, Mallory. “I love to fish, golf, sports in general, playing and watching.”
An Eagle Scout, Tom has also been on philanthropic trips to Haiti and New Orleans, which he notes being “life-changing.”
“I went to Haiti for 14 days, and I can’t wait to go back. It’s infectious. Once you do it once you want to do it again.”
Tom has never, in his life, been classified as “bashful.” A winner of talent shows via his
juggling, Tom has been an RA, orientation leader, track athlete, and more. “I tried to get my hand in every pot I possibly could to meet people because that’s what I love doing,” said Tom.
Something many people in the office may not know is Tom’s national recognition in 2006. He rescued his brother, Mike, after a diving accident in Newburyport, MA, as illustrated here. He was awarded the National Heroism Award for his actions.
But for Tom, everything comes full circle to Wilmington. “It will always be home for me no matter where I end up. I am proud of what this town is. For my first job to only be five minutes away from home, in this town, I am truly blessed.”

If you could pick the next interlinkONE/Grow Socially company outing destination, it would be…
“Camping and white water rafting in NH. I feel like it would be a blast – we’d have a lot of fun.”
