The third installment of our Meet The Team series features our Sales Executive, Matt Sullivan.
Meet Matt Sullivan, Grow Socially’s own renaissance man.
You name it, Matt has done it. He is a college baseball champion. A skilled musician. A sailor. A traveler. He has even been featured on ESPN.
A 2010 graduate of Trinity College with a degree in economics, Matt has definitely built up quite the résumé at a young age, both professional and personal. Just as impressive is how he got his start with Grow Socially.
” I started my own company, Sullivan Solutions, a little while back. I was offering social media marketing, website design, things like that,” said Matt. “I was putting up flyers everywhere. I put one up in John (Foley)’s gym, and he saw it and gave me a call. We met, and he asked me to work here.”
For Matt, making sales at Grow Socially is something that offers what no previous job had: spontaneity. “The piece I like about this is that it’s not scripted,” noted Matt, a North Reading, MA native. “Where, you know, every person I talk to is a new scenario, starting fresh, customizing a package that works for them.
“My old job was scripted, you say XYZ and that is it. It’s all in stone, structured. Now I get to use sales tactics that I’ve learned but apply it to free flowing conversations.”
Matt is skilled in the art of salesmanship. But in his free time, Matt is all about relaxing and having a good time. A big country music fan, Matt is a regular when Kenny Chesney makes his way to Gillette Stadium every year. And he’s more than just a fan. He plays guitar, drums and bass, and has played in multiple bands since his middle school days. Check out the video below, that’s Matt with the sweet fedora.
Music has always been a passion for Matt. Much like his love for baseball. He was a crucial member of the 2008 DIII National Championship Trinity College baseball team. Check out this video of highlights from the championship game. Matt has a big hit in the beginning of the video and then check out the 6:50 mark, when he draws a bases-loaded walk to tie the game in the ninth inning.
Matt still plays baseball today in a league in the North Shore area, as well as golf and hockey. He loves hanging out in Gloucester at his family beach house and taking his boat out on the water.
When asked if there is anything else that his coworkers in the office might not know about him, Matt smiled. “Probably tons.”
