Has your company recently created a Facebook Page? If so, one of the biggest things that you may be wondering is how to attract people to it… and then once they’re there, how to encourage them to “Like” the page.

It’s certainly important to find  answers to those questions. Developing that “Like” relationship with people can help you to stay in front of customers and prospects via a social network that they may be visiting on a frequent basis. Also, it can help you to develop a passionate group of fans that may help to spread your message for you.

I will admit — we are always looking for ways to increase the number of people that “Like” our page! But here are a few suggestions that may help you in your promotional efforts.

Ask the Fans That You Already Have for Help

We can absolutely start by asking the fans that we do already have! Take the time to create a post that encourages/invites people to “Share” your page with others. Of course, we cannot do this too frequently. But by occasionally reaching out to our base, word-of-mouth may spread more quickly than if we do it all on our own.

Cross-Promote Through Your Other Social Networks

Do you have an active Twitter or YouTube account? If so, the conversation, content, and fans there may be different from the ones that you have on Facebook. However, from time to time, it may be beneficial to promote why your followers on those other networks may want to check out your Facebook presence as well.

Via Twitter, you could occasionally sprinkle tweets that point to some features on your Facebook page.

On YouTube, you could include links to your Facebook page in the descriptions of the videos that you upload.

Tag Other Facebook Pages In Your Posts

Find other Facebook pages that may be involved with the same industries that your company is. This might include pages related to associations, magazines, user groups, etc. Take the time to share their content on your page and give them credit! When you tag them in your post, your post will also show up on their company Page feed (depending on their settings). Followers of that page may notice your page and then click through to learn more about what you offer.

Post On Another Page’s Wall

A lot of cities and towns are creating their own Facebook Pages. If you sell or market to those areas, find them, like them, and leave a message to let people know that your products or services are available to them.

Make An Offer

If we want to receive a “Like”, we need to earn it! This may involve providing something of value right off the bat. This might be an exclusive whitepaper, a discount on a product or service, or a sweepstakes for some other kind of gift. Then, promote that via other channels, including print, email, mobile, and more. This may absolutely help to encourage people to “Like” our page.

Of course, we need to recognize that a giveaway may not always attract qualified leads. Thus, we must find ways to ensure that we are building an audience that may truly care about our company’s products and services… not just one that is looking for something free!

We hope that you find ideas like these beneficial!
